A Fourth of Memories
Hi all
Just wanted to extend good holiday wishes to those of us here in the US who are enjoying the day (hopefully you have the day off and are enjoying a nice time with family and friends)
Also, a quick word of thanks for those who have taken the time to fill out the PC Survey for us. For the most part, the responses have been fantastic; the good thoughts (and the bad) are all most appreciated and we do thank you for your input.
It may surely seem perhaps lame or cliche or obvious to state this, but to me, it has been quite refreshing to see how many people from all around the world are part of our fandom-the various ages, locations, and different perspectives all brought together for one reason: to share in our collective love of the Harry Potter books and films.
I was thinking that a year ago, I finally had a very long held dream come true, as I finally made it to the UK and London. The days spent there were truly among the best I had while in this fandom, and I got to meet in person some dear and wonderful people. Another cliche again and this one is probably really cringe-worthy, but last year after a fabulous morning starting out with a proper English breakfast, we left the UK on the fourth and flew home to spend it in San Francisco where we had a typical US dinner of burgers and such and then watched the fireworks over that gorgeous bay. It was in fact, an incredible day. It was all so grand, so fabulous and so cool that a year ago on this holiday, I was in both countries, celebrating equally with lovely lovely people from both countries, all because of the shared love of a book. Those friendships still hold true -I hope- to this day and I am hoping one day with all my heart to return there and see these people again (and more over GO TO SCOTLAND!) In the meantime, where ever you are this day, I hope that you are in a good place, and your journeys here in the fandom have lead you to some truly spectacular places and people too.
Have a good one everyone!
Best,
Sue
