I haven't had a chance to listen yet, do the pottercasters discuss the trailer at all? I was really looking forward to hearing their reactions to tommy... (riddle junior)

And the San Diego show? It was nearly a month ago! And it's still not on the feed! *cries * Can you post a news segment that has each tour stop (INCLUDING the leaky mug stop) and tell us if each was lost or not? Sure, some people would burst into uncontrollable sobs once they find out, but at least we'd KNOW.

---sorry for the re-post, but it really needed to be in this thread =%-P=

This is one of the best Pottercasts ever. From the way the 'casters and fans supported the guy who worked so hard getting his question out to the duels to the general discussion about the HBP delay, it was outstanding.

I truly appreciate the fandom (and the Four who bring this to us) and the depth of intellect and emotion therein. Despite digressions (Twilight) and assorted goofiness, the release of a new Pottercast is a highlight of our week. Even after listening on the iPod during a workout, I usually play it for the rest of the fans in the house later. As PC 162 wrapped up with the conversation about how we explain our attachment to the work and world of J K Rowling, I was reminded of a word the late, great, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. coined: granfalloon, "a proud and meaningless association of human beings." We have used it in conjunction with his writings about the "artificial extended family." As in, "By joining a family like ours, you give yourself a network of family members to draw upon when you're in need. With this many relatives, someone is bound to say yes when you ask for a favour." And "How on earth can religious people believe in so much arbitrary, clearly invented balderdash?....The acceptance of a creed, any creed, entitles the acceptor to membership in the sort of artificial extended family we call a congregation. It is a way to fight loneliness. Any time I see a person fleeing from reason and into religion, I think to myself, There goes a person who simply cannot stand being so goddamned lonely anymore."

Hooray for us, The Harry Potter Fandom, a glorious granfalloon, a wonderful artifical extended family.

One last thing, having to do with the film's recently announced delay, I wonder about the ecosystem surrounding a Harry Potter film. Pottercast and Leaky have kept us up to date with product tie-ins (yarn from Germany?) and such. As a business owner, I would be tremendously disappointed that my officially licensed merchandise would have nothing to be tied-into for the holiday season, and all the inventory I had invested in would need to sit for eight months before release.

Hooray, again, for PC 162. Thanks.
