I liked how they mixed it up for "Guess that Book" this week. Last week it was interesting to hear eveyone's reactions. SOme people almost died when they were called, while others didnt seem to care, which is pretty unbelievable if you ask me. Anyhow, it was a great episode, and "Guess That Book" is MUCH harder than I thought it would be!

Don't know if someone else has already said this (I realise I'm a bit late) but I thought I'd cast some light on the Legally Blonde debate. I saw it last year when I was over in New York (I'm from England) and it was soooooo awesome!! Well worthy of being my only Broadway show. And John, yes there is a 'bend and snap' song! Only wish it would come over to the UK so I could take my friends and prove them wrong when they say it must be rubbish.

Also if you live in the US there's really obvious practical reasons for wanting to take spanish. I live in Canada, so yeah, it's different.
The grammar for French and Spanish is pretty similar AFAIK, spanish seems easier starting out, especially for the listening part cause it's basically spoken how it's written(plus who didn't pick up basic spanish from sesame street,) but when you get down to learning grammar and exceptions and reading obtuse poetry and all that jazz pretty much any language will get pretty difficult/frustrating.
I was just saying there's pretty much no way to correct the language stuff without looking nitpicky and jerky, even though we mean well/are just bored.

Well what I was getting on with my rant is that French is not an easy language to learn. Most of my friends take Spanish and from what I can see, it seems a whole lot easier to learn than French...
Spanish kids outnumber us big time...out of 1200 students there were like 2 french 4 and french 3 classes each (one honors, one nonhonors) not sure about french 2 and 1 because my teacher didnt have french 2 and she only had one french 1 class...
But like I think in total it's probably only a fourth of the school...if that...no probably not even...and its mostly girls I think...we had like 6 guys in my class...a class of like 28 or so...actually a lot of my classes are lopsided like that...I guess it's more likely for a girl to take honors or AP in my school. Well math and science are pretty even...but the rest are really lopsided.
I'm gonna go through my classes this past year for the heck of it.
Honors Chemisty - 7 guys; 12 girls
Honors precalc - 7 guys; 11 girls
Honors English - 9 guys; 13 girls
AP US History - 8 guys; 14 girls
Honors French - 6 guys; 18 girls
so yeah more girls in every class...kinda depressing actually...eh not that any guys in my town are worth it...one of the very few is one of my best friends so yeah
and yet another random rant from me...

Frak's sentence wasn't slurred so much as he just said it super fast. And to be fair like 80% of the people I've been in classes with had terrible pronunciation, let alone ones that hadn't studied it in like 8 years. It's one of the trickier languages to get the hang of sounds-wise because it's so very unphonetic.
When I was in high school we always got like exerpts and short stories at first, when we finally went onto novels they we pretty straightforward stuff (canadian stuff not deep existential french stuff.) And I did a presentation on MC Solaar, good times.
BTW I retaught myself french by reading translations of the HP, it was pretty sweet.
ANYWAYS guys, what you should get out of this is that we're not trying to be jerks with the language stuff, we're just get way too excited to get a chance to use it this stuff we spent so much time memorizing cause it like never happens.

Brendie, I'm only kidding around about Mugglecast. No bashing here.

I live in Ottawa which is 40% French, and I find Frak's french to be slurred together into 1 word. But thats just me. Melissa's french is HILARIOUS i LOVE IT!
